Motto: Help One Another
The mission of Genesee Valley Quilt Club is to promote quilting through exhibitions and charitable
activities within the community.
To that end, GVQC is to:
•
encourage and promote the art of quilt making.
•
continue to improve our skills and knowledge.
•
promote an appreciation of fine design and workmanship.
•
preserve our heritage and traditions.
•
use our skills to serve the community.
Club Organizational Structure
Genesee
Valley
Quilt
Club,
Inc.
is
an
all
volunteer
organization.
The
teams
that
manage
the
club
activities are the Executive Committee and the Board Of Directors.
The
Executive
Committee
consists
of
five
(5)
club
members,
President,
Vice
President,
Treasurer,
Recording
Secretary,
and
Membership
Chair.
They
are
responsible
for
the
day
to
day
operations
of the club.
The
Board
Of
Directors
has
thirteen
(13)
members
which
include
the
five
sitting
officers
(Executive
Committee),
seven
(7)
at-large
members,
and
one
(1)
Past
Executive
Committee
Officer.
The
function
of
the
Board
is
to
oversee
the
long-term
direction
of
the
club
in
accordance
with
the
constitution and bylaws of the club.
All
positions,
except
the
Board
Chairperson,
are
voted
on
by
the
membership.
The
Board
Chairperson
is
elected
by
the
Board.
Though
term
length
varies,
elections
are
held
once
a
year
in
April
with
officers
and
new
Board
members
assuming
their
duties
in
May
immediately
following
the induction ceremony.
GVQC was incorporated in 2000 and is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit public benefit corporation.
